I KNOW THAT, WHATSOEVER GOD DOETH, IT SHALL BE FOR EVER: NOTHING CAN BE PUT TO IT, NOR ANY THING TAKEN FROM IT: AND GOD DOETH IT, THAT MEN SHOULD FEAR BEFORE HIM.
Tallahassee, FL (Leon County)—It has been two decades since former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, a Republican, removed the Confederate flag from the state’s Capitol. In doing so, Mr. Bush was highly criticized, and accused of “‘pandering’ to African Americans.” In spite of threats of death to his governorship for a second term, Mr. Bush went on to serve 2 terms—which is the limit in Florida.
Presently, Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida’s First Lady Casey DeSantis, along with the governor’s cabinet members, Attorney General Ashley Moody, Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried, and Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, are traveling all over the state of Florida in an effort to reassure Floridians that their trust in them will bring about brighter days in this century, and for generations to come.
Unfortunately, in the city of Tallahassee, where the Governor’s Mansion is located, there are many government officials and employees who are either Tallahassee natives or longtime Tallahassee residents, who strongly believe that they can tarnish Governor Ron DeSantis’ legacy by denying the advancements in Science, specifically Time of Death and Biology/DNA (Mitochondrial DNA). Many government officials there in Tallahassee have learned how to survive until their retirement—when it comes to positive changes through each new governor, their new cabinet members, and their outside administrators—delay, delay, delay. Their delay tactics are like second nature to them. For some local and state officials, Tallahassee (Leon County), and other surrounding counties that fall under Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit is operated like Ku Klux Klan, the very organization that has spun White Supremacists.
Tallahassee native, John “Jack” Campbell, a Democrat, has been on the state of Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit payroll for a number of years—he started out as a prosecutor under Second Judicial Circuit Willie Meggs, a Democrat. Mr. Meggs, who’d been in office for over 25 years, spent at least a decade assigning numerous criminal cases that were under the investigative jurisdiction of Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell, a Democrat. Not only was Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell the daddy of Jack Campbell, Sheriff Campbell was the employer of hundreds of Leon County Sheriff’s deputies, and he was also the overseer of the Leon County Jail. Every person that is arrested for a crime in Tallahassee gets booked in the Leon County Jail.
Many Second Judicial Circuit judges and Leon County judges are former employees (assistant state attorneys) of Mr. Meggs, therefore, without a doubt they seem to show a sense of loyalty to ensure that every criminal brought into their courtrooms are convicted—especially African American males—without cause or with a ridiculous cause—and without an arrest warrant.
On October 18, 2013, after nearly a 3 year all-around kangaroo ridiculously messy experience, where there was no physical evidence connecting DeShon Thomas, an African American teenager, to two murders, he was convicted and sentenced to serve two life sentences plus 30 years, for crimes that he did not commit—he pled Not Guilty. DeShon was 17-years-old, a freshman at Tallahassee Community College, when he was charged and arrested on a hunch—a theory—concocted by the Leon County Sheriff’s office and the Second Judicial State Attorney’s office. Then, Assistant State Attorney Jack Campbell, and his daddy, Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell, and others ensured both Campbell’s looked to be tough community leaders.
Six years later, in November 2019, Jack Campbell, who is currently in the position of Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit State Attorney (Meggs’ successor) secured a conviction against Mr. Henry Segura, a black man, who was arrested at 31-years-old. Mr. Henry Segura was facing the Death Penalty. Mr. Segura sat in the Leon County Jail for nearly 10 years, only to be convicted and sentenced to four life sentences on a hunch—a theory—concocted by the Tallahassee Police Department and the Second Judicial State Attorney’s office, Then, Assistant State Attorney Jack Campbell, and his daddy, Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell, and others ensured both Campbell’s looked to be tough community leaders.
There are some similarities in Mr. Thomas and Mr. Segura’s murder cases. The murders of that which Mr. Thomas is charged happened in late January 2011. Mr. Thomas was charged with the murders in February 2011. Although the murders to that which Mr. Segura is charged occurred in November 2010, he was not arrested until September 2011. The heinous crimes to that Mr. Thomas was charged, and that where Mr. Segura was charged yielded no evidence supporting the Leon County Sheriff’s office, the Tallahassee Police Department or Florida Second Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s office theory. Science debunked their theory.
The only for sure information that the Leon County Sheriff’s office, the Tallahassee Police Department and Florida Second Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s office gained in regards to Mr. Thomas and Mr. Segura is that they both had close relations with white adult women.
As in Mr. Thomas’ case, Leon County Sheriff’s deputies seemingly allowed the white woman who Mr. Thomas had a sexual encounter to disappear into thin air. This woman, whose car was supposedly used in the commission of committing the murders—along with her daddy, who owned the car—seemingly cooperated in their investigation. The woman was neither deposed nor was she subpoenaed to testify in court. Not even nearly $30,000 paid to Mr. Thomas’ private attorney was enough to make him do his job—she was never deposed by the defense or the prosecutor. Mr. Thomas’ defense attorney was fired for various reasons—including conspiring with then, Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell, State Attorney Willie Meggs, Assistant State Attorney Jack Campbell and Second Judicial Circuit Judge James C. Hankinson. With the large pool of money that judicial officials have access to, the near $30,000 of the total $50,000 paid out to Mr. Thomas’ private attorney was peanuts. (Judicial officials know how to cook their books in order to use handpicked private attorneys to represent indigent inmates.)
Mr. Thomas and Mr. Segura are currently in state prisons—not for crimes that they were convicted—absolutely nothing to do with murders—but everything to do with white women, and sex. A combination that continues to tear at the hearts of many ‘Good Ole Southern White Men’ in Tallahassee (Leon County).
By the use of many advancements in Science, law enforcement officials all over the United States, including in some parts of Florida, have been able to solve countless cold cases. With Florida Second Judicial Circuit State Attorney Jack Campbell denying those advancements in Science, especially Time of Death and Biology/DNA (Mitochondrial DNA), is his way of grossly maintaining the unjust system against African American males that his daddy, former Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell, and his former boss, State Attorney Willie Meggs, have been oppressing Tallahassee’s (Leon County) African American communities for decades. . Which is close to the same 70 year old garbage that Governor Ron DeSantis justly cleaned up in Lake County—the Groveland Four.
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried is seeking a full pardon for the Groveland Four.
There is no reason why the future of all states, including Florida’s judicial proceedings should make wrongful convictions an act of the past. The new state attorney for Florida’s Fourth Judicial Circuit, Melissa Nelson, a Republican, has established a Conviction Integrity Review division, in part to investigate post-conviction cases.
